I'm considering waiting for the MSI GS70 Stealth or buying the MSI GT70 barebone from XOTICPC. Both builds have one fan, the gs70 being smaller will it be louder/hotter? I don't really care that much about heat, I care about noise. So for example if I'm playing starcraft 2 wol on medium will the gs70 be louder or will the gt70 be louder? Thank you in advanced

By the naming convention I'd imagine the GS70 should have a revamped "stealth" like cooking design, akin to what ASUS did moving from the G51Vx series (infamous for overheating and loud fan noise) to the now adopted stealth fighter design they incorporated into the G53SW and later models (G750 included)

That doesn't answer my question, are you saying the 765m is cooler/more quiet than the 780m?

Ok, thanks all. Now that I know the 765m is cooler I have to determine which to get the P35K and the MSI gs70 stealth. Or should I wait for the gtx800 series to come out?

The 800 series is over a year away, but by that time, maybe you'll wanna wait for the 900 series..... all kidding aside, buy whatever you want, the 700 series has only been out for a month or 2. In terms of the fans being loud, the msi gt70 will only be loud if you put the turbo fan on. The only reason why you would turn the turbo fan on is when you're playing an intensive game that would put your gpu into the 80s such as crysis 3. For the most part the GT70 is quiet and with the 780m, it is one hell of a performer. The 780m is almost 80-90 percent faster than a 765m in most applications/games. The price tag comes with the increased performance.

Yes, the GT70 will run hotter and as a result, louder than the GS70. That being said, it is also close to 1.7-2x faster than the GS70 like elmyo said. You mention SC2 which is a fairly CPU intensive game. Both notebooks have one fan right? They both sit over the GPU which means the CPU gets secondary cooling. If you are playing SC2 on ultra for hours, it is going to heat up the CPU (considering SC2 is terrible at multi core) and could throttle. Is there a reason you are limiting your choice to these two? If you have to get one of these, go for the GS70 but imo neither are good choices. The GS70 is just a bit better for your priorities.

I do game a lot, I need to use this for work (post production), and I travel out of state at least 40 times a year. Thank you in advance
